About Back To Me

Back To Me brings small daily routines, personal goals and reflection into one calm space.

Start with a guided programme and choose how much you want to take on today. Adjust the effort, move an action to another day, pause a programme or pick it up again. Completed actions remain part of your record as the plan changes.

The app includes habits and goals, mood and energy check-ins, recipes, meal planning, shopping lists, and a journal for notes, photos and small wins. A searchable library brings together practical routines and short articles, while the progress view reflects what you have recorded.

I designed the cream-and-blush interface with warm plum text, rounded typography and a ribbon logo. The implementation uses React, Next.js and TypeScript, with IndexedDB storage, recoverable journal drafts, an offline fallback and a local content editor.

This is an independent, browser-only concept with fictional sample profiles. Changes are stored locally in a session-scoped workspace. Account flows and reminders are simulated; there is no hosted account service or cross-device sync.

Release history

Version 1.1.2

Fixed

  • Prevented an enrolment from being marked complete when a member moves an action into the next day while generating that future plan.
  • Resolved programme duration and completion boundaries from the programme version pinned to the enrolment instead of a later mutable publication.
  • Replaced empty paused/no-programme placeholders when resuming so Today no longer remains empty after a date change, while preserving recorded actions.
  • Carried failed workspace mutations into the next serialized write so a later successful save cannot silently discard an earlier failed change.
  • Made offline note retries reuse one stable pending entry and rolled back failed Complete/Skip changes before reporting “Not saved.”
  • Awaited IndexedDB persistence for administrator content and member-status changes before showing success.
  • Cached offline/index.html explicitly for Next.js-hosted and static deployments, and associated the offline note label with its textarea.

Verified

  • Expanded unit coverage to 22 tests across six files, including future-plan generation, pinned-version durations, and paused placeholder recovery.
  • Passed all 22 Chromium product journeys, including new move, date-change resume, mutation-retry, admin failure, and offline retry regressions.
  • Rebuilt the 32-route production app and standalone playground ZIP, then verified the static ZIP under /playground/back-to-me/, its service-worker scope, unrelated-cache preservation, and disconnected deep-route fallback.
Version 1.1.1

Fixed

  • Namespaced service-worker caches by deployment path, preserved unrelated same-origin caches during activation, and made notification navigation respect the playground base path.
  • Scoped journal drafts to the browser workspace and account, restored drafts for existing entries, cleared them with the session, and retained them until IndexedDB storage succeeds.
  • Changed account and workspace mutations to await durable IndexedDB writes, exposed retryable error feedback, and prevented failed writes from appearing saved.
  • Kept paused programmes available for resume, stopped finite programmes at completion instead of repeating days, and generated future plans from the programme version pinned to the enrolment.
  • Locked moved source-day actions, recalculated time-budget warnings after effort changes, and made the UI use the shared effort and shopping helpers covered by tests.
  • Persisted onboarding steps and values, preselected wins from Today, translated raw action and dietary labels, and corrected the Month progress title.
  • Summed shared shopping ingredients, added editable and removable meal-plan review, completed goal edit/complete/delete controls, and added missing recipe allergen metadata.
  • Repaired the offline fallback for uncached deep routes, preserved unsaved offline note text across action changes, and captured the note form before awaiting storage.
  • Allowed complete from-scratch programmes to publish from current editor values and clarified that movement and dietary preferences do not yet filter content.

Verified

  • Expanded domain coverage to 18 unit tests and Chromium coverage to 18 product journeys.
  • Added regressions for failed storage and Retry save, draft isolation, pause and resume, moved actions, onboarding recovery, meal and goal flows, admin reloads, from-scratch publishing, cache ownership, and disconnected deep-route fallback.
  • Regenerated desktop and mobile evidence and documented passed, failed, and untested checks in docs/QA_REPORT.md.
Version 1.1.0

Changed

  • Replaced the editorial cream-and-ink visual system with a warmer cream, blush, and rose palette designed for light mode by default.
  • Bundled Outfit and DM Sans locally with their OFL licence files and removed the previous serif and fallback typography.
  • Integrated the supplied ribbon logo across headers, favicons, PWA icons, and the offline shell.
  • Rebalanced the landing hero around a real Today preview and compacted the sample-account chooser.
  • Simplified Today's effort, action, secondary-control, check-in, and small-win hierarchy.
  • Replaced the seven-column plan grid with a compact date strip and selected-day agenda.
  • Reworked the Library into a bounded card grid, introduced category visuals, and retained full-catalogue search.
  • Reduced Journal spacing, added image thumbnails, and softened the writing presentation.
  • Reworked Progress around a weekly strip, actual recorded metrics, an honest starting state, bounded history, and a shorter weekly reflection.
  • Removed technical implementation language from ordinary member screens while retaining storage, privacy, and offline explanations in Settings.

Verified

  • Added responsive before/after screenshot evidence across 360, 390, 768, and 1440 pixel widths.
  • Added explicit light-default and optional dark-mode coverage.
Version 1.0.0

Added

  • Browser-only account sessions backed by account-scoped IndexedDB, with salted local password hashes and single-use password-reset links.
  • Resumable onboarding that turns an intention, available time, interests, and practical preferences into a stable first daily plan.
  • Six complete guided programmes lasting 7, 14, or 30 days.
  • Daily plans with three primary actions, Bare minimum / Steady / More today variants, completion, undo, skip, effort changes, and cross-day moves.
  • Personal habits with weekly targets or selected weekdays, plus goals and milestones.
  • Optional mood, energy, sleep, restfulness, tags, and notes in daily check-ins.
  • Private journal entries with local drafts, search, favourites, wins, private images, export, and deletion.
  • A content library containing 73 activities, 18 recipes, 12 articles, and 20 detailed routines, with search, filters, saving, meal planning, and shopping aggregation.
  • Week and month progress views, recorded-value averages, programme progress, weekly reviews, and JSON/CSV export.
  • A local admin studio for programmes, activities, library content, members, reminder outcomes, and change history, including programme version publishing.
  • Three labelled synthetic personas with deterministic plan, check-in, journal, and progress histories.
  • A PWA manifest, original standard and maskable icons, service-worker caching, update handling, install guidance, and a self-contained offline shell.
  • A standalone static-export command that produces a playground-ready ZIP with index.html at its root.
  • Unit, integration-style browser, accessibility, responsive screenshot, offline, and static-export verification.

Changed

  • The final architecture uses browser storage for each session instead of a server database, SQL migrations, or a background database worker.
  • Detail routes use static query parameters so the same source supports both Next.js runtime hosting and static playground extraction.

Security

  • Passwords and session records never leave the local browser.
  • Journal images are resized, converted to WebP, stripped of most metadata, and stored privately inside the owning account.
  • Member records are partitioned by the current browser session and account.

Documentation

  • Added product, architecture, content, QA, limitations, and implementation checklist documentation alongside local visual evidence.
