One demo submission, one GA4 event, and a matching CRM lead
I gave a SaaS site a permanent demo page, replaced the homepage popup links with ordinary links, and tied the GA4 lead event to form success — with a controlled test on 11–12 August 2026 producing one outbound event and a matching HubSpot record the client confirmed.
Client work. The checks were recorded on 11–12 August 2026, and I have left out the client's identifiers and the original private screenshots.
What the client wanted
A visitor should reach the demo form through a stable address, and a successful submission should produce exactly one lead event with a matching CRM record — not a click event that fires whether or not anything was sent.
What was wrong
- The homepage demo buttons used popup or hash-based navigation, so the demo had no address of its own and could not be linked to, shared or measured.
- There was no permanent demo destination.
- The conversion had to be tied to successful form completion and then reconciled with the CRM.
What I changed
- Created a permanent
/demo/destination. - Changed the homepage demo buttons to ordinary links to
/demo/. - Gated the
generate_leadevent on form success rather than on the click.
What I measured
| Page or check | What needed attention | Required result | What was observed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Homepage demo links | Popup or hash-based navigation | Normal links to /demo/ |
Live output matched the tested deployment on 12 August |
| Successful demo submission | Tracking tied to form success | One generate_lead event per successful submission |
One controlled submission produced one outbound GA4 event on 11 August |
| CRM lead | The test submission reconciled with the CRM | A corresponding HubSpot record | Client confirmed the matching record on 11 August |
What it doesn't prove
The result applies to the controlled demo submission and the checked deployment. It does not claim conversion lift, revenue growth or verified trial sign-ups.
